2000 books donated by Liverpool Hope University to 3 prisons in the North West.

As part of the HMP2HOPE project, created by Dr Niamh Malone and Dr Gary Anderson, 2000 books were collected and delivered to HMP Preston, HMP Garth and HMP Wymott, November 25th. The books collected will enhance the reading materials at the prisons and be part of their literacy programmes. This is the third book harvest organised by HMP2HOPE and distributed to prisons in the North West.

HMP2HOPE was established in 2017 and has delivered an impressive variety of projects in prisons throughout the UK. The core objective of the project is to demystify third level education for prisoners. This is achieved through engaging the prisoners in short educational programmes created and delivered by Malone and Anderson.

The 2000 books have been generously donated by Hope staff, students and associates to enhance the very limited book collection in prisons. These books will play an important part in helping the prisoners’ educational achievement while incarcerated. They will also be a valuable resource for the learners engaged in the HMP2Hope programme.

Drs Anderson and Malone would like to thank all those who donated books with a special mention to Dr Bill Blazek and Dr Wendy Bignold for their generous donations.
